Daytrips: What to See and Do
Day 1: Urbino, on the Unesco heritage list, with the highlights Galleria Nazionale delle Marche, housed in the magnificent Palazzo Ducale, the house of Rafael, the cathedral and the oratorio San Giovanni Battista. From Urbino We take the scenic route over the Monto delle Cesane, descending into Fossombrone passing the Corta Alta and the ruins of the citadel, then on the Via Flaminia, passing the Gola del Furlo on the road constructed by the Romans, to Acqualagna, capital of the truffle. Then back to the agriturismo taking provincial road nr 55.
Day 2: Urbania (Palazzo Ducale, Museo Diocesano, Chiesa delle Mummie). Especially for the little ones: Centro San Martino with it’s Elves forest, il bosco dei Folletti, where elves and animals await the children. Thereafter to Piobbico (home of the club of ugly people ‘ I Brutti di Piobbico) to visit catle Brancaleoni and the impressive Monte Nerone. On a clear day from the top you can see both the Adriatic and Mediterranean seas. Then via Fermignano with it’s romanesque tower and bridge back to the farm.
Day 3: Frontone, monastery Fonte Avellana (already mentioned by Dante), the Frasassi caves.
Day 4: the impressive castle San Leo, nature reserve Sasso Simone and the turtle-shaped castle of Sassocorvaro.
Day 5: Fano and the sea. Visit Mondavio and other fortified towns along the Metauro.
Day 6: Pesaro and the sea. Along the strada Panoramica, with view on the best piece of coast of our province, to the fortified town Fiorenzuola de Focara.
Day 7: Gradara, Mondaino, Monte Gridolfo and Saludecio, all nice old towns.
Day 8: San Marino, Rimini (both for shopping) and one of the themeparks: the acquarium of Cattolica, Oltremare, Le Vele, Fiabilandia, Italia in miniatura, the dolfinarium or waterpark Aquafan.
Day 9: a day educational farm right here.
Day 10: to the riding school for a nice ride in the country.
Day 11: a refreshing bath near one of the idyllic spots of the area: i Cavalli, Piccolo en Grande Kenia, le Foci en Parchiule.
Day 12: thermal baths at Macerata Feltria, Petriano, Carignano, Raffaello.
Day 13: (at 1 hour 15 minutes) Assisi and Perugia, the beautiful riviera del Conero, Arezzo or, a little closer, Città di Castello.
